Welcome to Mrs. Driscoll's Kindergarten

I love school! I know, I know!

September 2011

Dear Parents,
I would like to welcome you to our kindergarten classroom. I am thrilled to be working with your children this year and look forward to getting to know both them and you in the next few months. One of my first and most important goals for your child is to develop a love of learning and school. One of the ways that we do this is by creating a classroom community where everyone feels comfortable and safe. Another way that we do this is by having fun! Much of our first few weeks will be spent on developing classroom routines that will allow the children to function safely, cooperatively, and with a certain degree of self-sufficiency. We also spend a great deal of time creating friendships, getting to know one another, and making everyone feel welcome and cared for. I feel very strongly that kindness and respect are critical components in a well functioning classroom, and I will be working with your child to develop these characteristics. It is my hope that anyone entering our classroom will be greeted by the sounds of happy, busy children engaged in purposeful learning.
Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have questions or concerns of any kind. You can send a note in your child's folder, call me at school and leave a voicemail (457-2400 ext. 15012)  or e-mail me at sdriscoll@vcmail.ouboces.org. Any and all information will be kept in strict confidence and used only to comfort your child or ease any anxieties they may have. I would like to help make this transition as smooth and enjoyable as possible for you and your child. If there is anything else that I can do to assist you please let me know.
Sincerely,

Susanne Driscoll
