Boy Scout Creates an Outside Classroom at Berea Elementary School

Matt Walker, a boy scout from Troop 33 and a student at VCHS, created an Outdoor Classroom for Berea Elementary School as his Eagle Project. On November 15, the outdoor classroom was officially received by the school.  Matt spoke to the school’s third-graders and explained what he had to do to complete the project and what an Eagle Scout is. The project was supported by Walden Savings Bank who provided funding and Messco for providing wood for the benches.

Principal, John Solimando cut the ribbon as Assistant Principal, Tammy Ryder and Matt’s mom, a third-grade teacher at Berea Elementary, Susan Walker, helped with the count down. John Corola from Walden Savings Bank and Brad Conklin Interim Business Official were in attendance also. The students and teachers were very excited to see the final product and look forward to using it often.
