Hello. My name is Mrs. Fredell, and I went to this school:
I graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1996.  I received my Master's degree in reading in 2002, and I have my NYS certification in N-6 elementary education and K-12 reading.  I have been teaching for 20 1/2 years.  I taught one-half year in first grade, five years in fifth grade, and one year in sixth grade at Leptondale Christian Academy.  I began teaching remedial reading 14 years ago in Walden Elementary School, and this is my thirteenth year teaching in Montgomery Elementary School. I taught Reading Recovery for nine years. This year, I will be teaching remedial reading for Grade one and Kindergarten. It's great to be teaching in the elementary school that I attended as a girl.  I am married and have three daughters.  My youngest daughter has taught and directed nursery school and is finishing her masters degree in Literacy.   Another daughter is a remedial reading teacher in Walden Elementary school. My third daughter daughter does accounting for the VC district. I really enjoy teaching reading and writing. It's wonderful to see a child get excited about what he is reading or writing.  I believe these skills are the foundation for success in school and many areas of life.   You can instill the love of reading by reading to your children and with your children on a regular basis.  Remember, the more your child reads, the better reader he/she will become.  When learning to read, it takes massive amounts of practice to become proficient.  Please contact me by calling the school,  sending a note with you child, or sending me an e-mail if you have any questions or concerns. You may call 457-2400 Ext. 14020 or e-mail christine.fredell@valleycentralschools.org  I'm looking forward to a great year!
