Physical Education courses typically involve the acquistion of knowledge and skills that provide the foundation for sport, a physically active lifestyle and social development through physical activity. Activites typically include those that increase strength, endurance and flexibility; reinforce safe technique; teach the rules and conventions of games and sports; and explore the relationship between physical activity and health. Specific content depends upon the state standards for grades 6,7 and 8
Dress Code PolicyFor each Physical Education class a student attends they are expected to be dressed to participate in that day's activity. This will help to ensure student safety during activity and student hygiene for the rest of the school day. Appropriate attire includes a t-shirt, athletic / khaki shorts and sneakers. Sweatpants, athletic pants and sweatshirts are also appropriate for colder days. Jeans, jean shorts, flip flops and boots are not considered prepared for class. All jewelry, including watches should be removed prior to the start of class.A student who has sneakers for class but not the appropriate athletic attire may still participate in class as long as he/she is not wearing anything that would be considered unsafe during activity. This includes but is not limited to large zippers, metal accent pieces and pajamas. Students who have sneakers and can participate to earn 3 of the 5 daily points. Those would can not participate will receive 0 points for the day.LockersAt the start of each class students have 5 minutes to go into the locker room, change for class, put away their belongs and use the bathroom. Students should have a lock for their gym locker. They are available for purchase for $5 in the main office. Students should lock up all belongs before coming out of the locker room. Any valuables should be left in the student's school locker or at home.Boys - Due to the number for available lockers, boy can only use a locker for the period they have class. Once class is finished they must remove all their belongs and lock from the locker to take it with them. If you are an athlete you make take a locker for the season you are playing that sport. At the end of the season, regardless if you are playing the next season you must switch your locker to a small locker until the next season begins.Girls - Girls may take a small locker for the entire school year. If you are an athlete you make take a large locker for the season you are playing that sport. At the end of the season, regardless if you are playing the next season you must switch your locker to a small locker until the next season begins.
