    Valley Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame

     Organization and Purpose

    The organization shall be known as the Valley Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

    The purpose of the organization is to bring proper recognition to noteworthy athletes, coaches, teams, administrators, and others for their accomplishments and contributions to the Valley Central High School athletic program.

    The Valley Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame Shall conduct an induction ceremony to present awards to those duly elected to the Hall of Fame.

    To honor each inductee, the Valley Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame shall present a permanent plaque that shall be displayed in a prominent location at the High School.

     Officers and Board of Directors

    The Valley Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame shall consist of a facilitator and a committee of 12-15 members.

    The district's Athletic Director shall act as the facilitator of the Valley Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

     Eligibility and Criteria

    Candidates must have made a significant contribution to the Valley Central High School athletic program and must have represented the mission of the athletic program and the Valley Central School District during their tenure.

    Graduates cannot be considered until IO years after their high school graduation.

    In order for staff members, and others, to be considered the person must have been retired from VC for a period of 5 years.

     Procedure for Election to the Hall of Fame

    Candidate Screening

    Candidate screening and voting will be the responsibility of the Hall of Fame committee. The committee shall seek nominations by the general public.

    The Screening Committee shall undertake whatever research is necessary to evaluate the candidates. All candidates and teams that are nominated will be considered by the committee.

    At a designated meeting the committee will consider all candidates and teams that are nominated.

    Holdover candidates from year to year shall be judged on their merits on a case-by-case basis. The committee shall have the prerogative to resubmit holdover candidates. There shall be no predetermined expiration for considering holdover candidates. Nominations need only be made one time.

     Number of Inductees:

    In the inaugural and second year, a maximum of 15 individuals (including athletes, administrator/coach) can be inducted. This will consist of representation from each decade beginning with the I960's. The number of each selection from each decade will be at the discretion of the committee.

    Beginning with the third year of inductions, one team may be inducted in addition to individuals. The selection committee will reserve the right to determine the exact number of individuals to be inducted each year.

    Any number of the inductees each year· may be posthumous and will be left to the discretion of the Committee.

    Inductees will be honored at the Valley Central Community Kick Off Day in the Fall, the Valley Central Homecoming Football game, or an appropriate designated function.

     Voting for Induction by the Committee for Individuals

    Voting for induction shall take place at a designated meeting.

    In the election, voting shall be conducted according to the following point system: 10 points for the first choice, 9 points for the second choice, 8 points for the third choice, 7 points for the fourth choice, 6 points for the fifth choice, 5 points for the sixth choice, and 4 point for seventh choice, 3 points for the eighth choice, 2 points for the ninth choice, and 1 point for the tenth choice. The candidates with the highest point totals - all of whom must have been named on at least half (50%) of the ballots - shall be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

    The committee reserves to discuss and determine the final number of candidates to be inducted on a given year.

    Voting for Induction by the Committee for a Team:

     Voting for induction shall take place at a designated meeting.

    In the election, voting shall be conducted according to the following point system: 10 points for first choice, 7 points for the second choice, 5 points for the third choice, and 3 points for fourth choice.

    The team with the highest point total and named on at least half (50%) of the ballots shall be inducted.

    If a tie exists for the top spot, a vote shall be taken among the tied candidates using a point system of IO points for first choice and 7 points for second choice.

    To be eligible to vote, members of the committee shall have attended at least half of the general committee meetings of the Hall of Fame.

     By-Laws Revision

     Amendments to the By-Laws may be presented at any meeting of the Valley Central High School Sports Hall of Fame.

    Proposed changes, in writing, shall be submitted to the facilitator. The facilitator shall be responsible for forwarding the proposed changes to each committee member. Every member of the committee shall have received a copy of the proposed changes before business is conducted at the meeting at which the changes are presented.

    Amendments shall be voted on - after committee discussion of the issue - at the meeting at which the changes are presented. Two-thirds of the members present must vote affirmatively for the amendment to be approved.
