The hope for all stakeholders was for an opportunity to commence as a graduating class. However, we continue to adhere to the guidelines and regulations set forth by New York State for in-person gatherings for the purposes of graduation ceremonies and, unfortunately, they continue to maintain the same restrictions as in June; a maximum of 150 individuals.
Our intention of gathering as an entire graduating class for commencement as well as an All Night Grad celebration in-person on August 1st will not be permissible based upon the present guidelines. We recognize that graduation is a very special and highly celebrated moment for all involved and we acknowledge the disappointment this news may bring.
However, we will not allow this to stop us from celebrating the Class of 2020. Members of the Senior Class Council, advisors, teachers, administrators and so many others have worked in the background to ensure the display of a virtual Commencement Ceremony. The virtual ceremony will be reminiscent of our traditional Valley Central High School Commencement and we hope you will join in viewing and celebrating the Class of 2020. This link will bring you to the Virtual 62nd Commencement on August 1st at 6:00 p.m.
The volunteer members of the All Night Grad (ANG) Committee have raised $19,000 to support the graduates. As a result, the Committee will be distributing checks for $55.00 to each and every senior! In addition, ANG will be holding a drawing on July 30th for various free prizes to give away to members of the Class of 2020.
