Letter from the Superintendent Regarding COVID-19

As you already know, on October 29th, the District was informed that two Valley Central High School students tested positive for COVID-19. We worked closely with the Orange County Department of Health (OCDOH) to ensure we identified and contacted all necessary staff members and the parents/guardians of all students that were probable direct, close or proximate contacts with the infected individual in the classroom/school building or on the school bus.

On Monday, November 2, 2020 the Valley Central High School will open for in-person instruction for our Team In-Person (5 day a week students) only.  The remainder of the Valley Central High School students will continue to be provided with on-line instruction/learning until November 10, 2020. On that date, Team 2 will return for in-person learning, unless they are still in quarantine. The length of the closing is due to our inability to staff our classrooms, study halls and cafeterias due to the number of teachers and paraprofessionals in quarantine.

Instruction will continue on the same nine period schedule with synchronous instruction taking place. Students are expected to attend all Google Meets and to complete all work.  Administrators, teachers and staff that are not in quarantine will be working from the High School, while our quarantined teachers will provide instruction on the nine period schedule from their homes.

We will continue to keep our school community informed regarding how this virus is affecting our schools. Our priority is to inform the Orange County Department of Health and those families and staff that may have been exposed first. Please do not rely on social media commentary for information.  You should contact the District or your school if you have questions, but please understand that, due to medical privacy laws, we are not able to release the names of the individual(s) with COVID-19. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you.  With your participation, we believe we can create a safe and engaging experience for your children.
