Nov. 18th Letter from the Superintendent Re: COVID-19 (VCMS/VCHS)

Remote instruction through November 24th for all VCMS/VCHS students except Team In person (5 Days). Team In-person (5 Days) will report to the buildings. CTEC will run on a Wednesday Schedule.

Today, Wednesday, November 18, 2020, the District was informed that a Valley Central High School student tested positive for COVID-19.  We are in contact with the Orange County Department of Health (OCDOH) to assist them with the identification and contact of the staff members and parents/guardians of all students that were probable direct, close or proximate contacts with the infected individual in the classroom/school building or on the school bus.  The OCDOH will make the final determination as to who is considered a close or proximate contact.

Due to the current situation, which includes a large number of High School and Middle School staff members in quarantine, all Middle School and High School students, except Team In-Person (5 Days), will engage in remote learning from Thursday, November 19, 2020 through Tuesday, November 24th.  Students are expected to attend all Google Meets and to complete all work.

Elementary students will report as normally scheduled during this time period.

We are aware there is much speculation about what will occur after the Thanksgiving break.  Conversations are taking place with all of the Orange County School Districts, as well as the Orange County Department of Health. When a final decision is made, the District will make an announcement.

We will continue to keep our school community informed regarding how this virus is affecting our schools. Our priority is to inform the Orange County Department of Health and those families and staff that may have been exposed first. Please do not rely on social media commentary for information.  You should contact the District or your school if you have questions, but please understand that, due to medical privacy laws, we are not able to release the names of the individual(s) with COVID-19. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you.  With your participation, we believe we can create a safe and engaging experience for your children.
