The VCHS Shakespeare Club, under the advisement of David Miller, presented four performances of “King Lear”. One of Shakespeare’s tragedies, it is based on the mythological Leir Of Britain. In the play, King Lear is dividing his power and land between his daughters. He tests his daughters only to be fooled and driven to insanity. The performance was modernized by the club.
The students performed the play “black-box” theater style, meaning that the audience was seated on the stage with the performers. It was necessary to reserve a seat because the seating was limited, although there was no charge for admission. The club raised funds for their performance through a t-shirt and hoodie sale.
