Feb. 19, 2016 - Final two candidates named for superintendent
A message from Mr. Brad Conklin, Board of Education President:
In September 2015, the board of education (BOE) met with William J. Hecht, District Superintendent/CEO of Orange-Ulster BOCES (our search consultant) to begin the process of searching for a new superintendent. In October, the position was posted using multiple media outlets. In November, the board hosted forums (community, secondary faculty/staff and elementary faculty/staff) on three separate days to obtain input on the desired qualities and qualifications of the next superintendent.
The board received 21 applications for the position. After the credential review and initial background screening by the search consultant, the board reviewed the recommendations of the search consultant at the January 12 board of education meeting. At the January 25 BOE meeting, the board selected the five candidates that they would interview. On February 9 and 10, the board interviewed the candidates in person.
On Wednesday, February 17, 2016, the board narrowed the field to two candidates. On February 23 and 25, the final two candidates will participate in a full-day tour of the district, meetings with faculty/staff and community focus groups, culminating with a dinner meeting and final interview with the board of education.
The candidates are Joseph Prisinzano, Assistant to the Superintendent for Administration, Research, Innovation and Common Core for the Jericho School District and Stephen Walker, Deputy Superintendent for the Ramapo Central School District.
