Oct. 19, 2016 - VCMS’s National Junior Honor Society raises $5,000 to feed 100 Valley Central students

students pose at the stuff the bus event On Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, the Valley Central Middle School National Junior Honor Society sponsored a “Stuff the Bus” event. This event raised over $5,000 in food and cash donations which were generously donated to the district’s Back Pack Snack Attack Program.
The Back Pack Snack Attack is a weekend meal program that provides food to students in the Valley Central School District on the weekends when school meals are not available.  Most schools have programs in place to feed students during the week, but for students who are at risk of food insecurity, the weekends can be a challenging time.
For thirty eight weekends during the school year, a bag full of food is distributed to approximately 100 students within the Valley Central School District.
This program is sponsored by the First Reformed Church of Walden in conjunction with the Valley Central School District.
