Dec. 22, 2016 - Two-day event yields 133 college acceptances and $175k in scholarship awards
Valley Central High School’s Guidance Office hosted its annual “Instant Admissions” event on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14.
Representatives from five colleges (The College of St. Rose, SUNY Orange, Mercy College, Dutchess County Community College, Mount St. Mary College and Dominican College) were on hand in VCHS’ guidance office to meet privately with students, review their transcripts and applications and answer any questions about their respective colleges.
The representatives offered 133 students admittance to their college, and awarded $175k in scholarship funds. 16 students were accepted into an honors program in which they may receive full tuition scholarships. More students who met with these representatives are expected to learn of their admission status over the next few weeks.
“The Instant Admissions event is a great way for our students to learn more about post-high school educational opportunities,” Guidance Department Supervisor Joe DeBold said. “On behalf of the entire guidance department, we congratulate all of these students on their awards and acceptance and we wish them the best of luck.”
