Jan. 12, 2017 - Michael Bellarosa to be honored

It is with great honor that Chapter 9 of the NYSAAA recognizes Mr. Michael Bellarosa as the 2017 recipient of the Athletic Administrator Award. 

Mike has been with Valley Central Schools for the past 10 years as the Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics until being named as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Health, Safety and Athletics.

Having received his initial degrees from SUNY Geneseo in English and Elementary Education in 1982, Mike went on to receive his Masters in Educational Administration from Villanova University in 1991 and additional teaching credentials in Physical Education from Manhattanville College in 2007.


Throughout his career, Mike has held many positions including teaching English for Cornwall and Tappan Zee schools, was the English Department Chair for West Point Middle School, Assistant Principal at Minisink Valley High School and the Director of Athletics at Cornwall and Valley Central Schools.  Mike’s coaching career spans Track, Cross Country and Volleyball at Cornwall along with Track and Field at West Point and Villanova.  Mike was also selected to coach United States Olympic Track athletes for the 1988 Olympic trials in Indianapolis, the 1992 Olympic trials in New Orleans, the 1996 Olympic trials in Atlanta and the 2000 Olympic trials in Sacramento.


Currently Mike is the President of the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic League and serves on the OCIAA and Section 9 Executive Councils.  He also serves as the liaison to the Section 9 Eligibility and Combining of School committees.
