March 22, 2017 - A "snow day" at Berea

two kindergarten students playing outside When life gives you lemons you make lemonade and when mother nature gives you a blizzard and you’re a creative educator, you make it into a fun and engaging lesson. Berea kindergarten students in Mrs. Primavera and Mrs. Herman’s class spent the last day of winter, March 17, learning about volume and measurement with all of the extra snow laying around the playground.  The students measured the height of the snow using measurement tools such as links, snap cubes. Then, they filled various containers, such as tea cups, bowls and bins in order to measure and compare various capacities. Finally, the weighed the containers to determine which container was heavier and which was lighter. Once they conducted their measurements and recorded their data, they romped, rolled and played in the snow with their friends. View the full photo gallery from this event here
