Olympic Athlete and NYC Marathon winner, Rod Dixon pays a visit to Modified Cross Country Team
The VCMS Modified Cross Country Team had a visit from Olympic athlete (New Zealand) and 1983 NYC Marathon Winner-Rod Dixon. As the students finished watching the video about Rod Dixon's win, Coach Amy McCann welcomed him into the classroom. Dixon shared his love for running and how running had shaped his life. When asked by one student why he ran- he responded-"I was born to run." He talked to students about his bronze Olympic medal and passed the medal around to take inspiration from and impart their energy to it. Afterward, he took the students out to do running drills with them. Thanks to Rod Dixon for taking the time to visit VCMS, and for the Baker family for making the visit possible.
