Hydrogen bonds and surface tension give water some amazing properties! Ms. Quinn and Mrs. Ramos' 5th grade class in Walden Elementary are experimenting to find out how many drops of a water a penny can hold!

 

VCMS Students experiment with Road Salt

Mrs. Tsoucalas' 8th grade science class students at VCMS experimented with 3 different types of road salts. (Sodium Chloride, Calcium Chloride, and Magnesium Chloride)

This very Cool Experiment (Pun Intended) challenged the students to figure out how salt melts snow and ice. If the salt is not "hot", then how does it melt the ice and snow?
