Board of Ed acts to increase Income Range on Senior Citizen Sliding Scale Tax Exemption

After a public hearing held by the Valley Central School District Board of Education on Monday February 25,2019, the BOE acted to increase the current Senior Citizen Tax Exemption qualifying income range.The Exemption is now based on the income range seen in the table below, with the percent reduction applied based on that range.  The income range had not been increased at Valley Central since 1995. This Senior Citizen Tax Exemption is now in line with the majority of Orange County’s school districts. To qualify for this, a qualified residential property owner must be “at least over 65 years of age”.

If you already have the Senior Citizen Exemption, you will do not have to do anything to qualify as you already qualified for the lower income range.

 

If you did not already have the Senior Citizen Tax Exemption, but now qualify, please contact your Town Assessor’s office to get your application. It must be turned in to the TOWN ASSESSOR  by March 1, 2019 for the exemption to apply for your 2019 School Taxes.
