Valley Central Middle School Viking Voices Place 3rd in High School A Cappella Quarterfinal

(Montgomery, NY)- The Valley Central Viking Voices, the Valley Central Middle School’s Select A Cappella Group, placed 3rd out of 8 groups their International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA) Northeast Quarterfinal Competition on January 24 at the Experimental Media Performing Arts Center at RPI in Troy, NY. The group, competing for the first time, placed higher than 5 high school groups in the competition round and won the crowd over with their musical selections.

This year, over 3,850 performers in 250+ groups from high schools across 27 states are competing in the ICHSA Tournament. The Viking Voices join Stafford Middle School’s Fermata Nowhere out of Plattsburgh as the only two middle school entries in this year’s competition.

“I could not be happier for these young men and women. Their reaction to being announcedthird was priceless,”, says Justin Glodich, the group’s director. “Placing third in a high school competition gave the students the validation and reassurance that they belong. That they are a part of the community. I look forward to seeing what the group can achieve in this competition next year.”
