Berea Drama Club Stages "Grease" to Sold Out Audiences
Berea Elementary School's Drama Club performed two shows of "Grease" to sold-out audiences on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. They also had a performance for the students and staff on Friday, January 31, 2020.
The Drama Club is advised by 5th-grade teacher, Bill Carter who served as Director and Producer. He was assisted by Tara Goldizen-Rick with Keely Wright and Benjamin Carter in charge of the Choreography. VCHS Student Lexxy Rick served as Production Assistant along with three other HS Students, Tommy Briand, Jenna Napoleon and Mackenzie Zupko who were technical assistants. Aubrey O'Brien was set designer, with wardrobe being designed by Chris Ann Harper-O'Connor and Nicole O'Connor. Berea's Music Teacher, Astrid Larson was the sound coordinator.
Over fifty students brought the 1950's era Rydell High School to life on the stage portraying the T-Birds, Cheerleader and Pink Ladies. Jonathan Van Vlack was "Danny" with Emma Teutel playing "Sandy". The stage was filled with lively performances from "greasers" to "nerds" that kept the audience smiling from ear to ear.
"Whether you are an original greaser or square, a youth growing up in the digital age, or someone from a time and place in between, this performance was truly a slice of American culture. We had a great time with the cast and crew of the show dancing, smiling, singing and acting. They were an amazing group to work with and their enthusiasm on stage is infectious. Hopefully, our audiences found the show to be "coolsville", or maybe hip, groovy outta site, gnarly, rad, wicked, tight, sick and sweet!", said Bill Carter.
