Montgomery Elementary School Presents Project Fit America
Montgomery Elementary School Physical Education teachers Doug Luciano and Christine Giudice guided student leaders in explaining the Project Fit Program to the Board of Education on February 10, 2020. Ramonsito Soto, Jr., Aiden Benson, Matthew DeNoyelles, Santiago Gonzalez, Aiden Suchy, Rilee Kinsley, Sarah Hickey, Aidan (AJ) Gonzalez, Audrey O’Neill, Ellie Kresge, Brandon Rodriquez and Jack Watson explained all the aspects of the program and how it works to develop leadership skills, aids in social/emotional development and helping to learn responsibility by demonstrating games that they play. Their explanation included a hubba-hubba hula hoop demonstration along with challenging BOE members to join them in a tennis ball toss where the goal is to catch as many tennis balls as possible without dropping the ones they had previously caught.
Montgomery Elementary School garnered the most votes in an online contest to become a Project Fit America school. The school was awarded $25,000 worth of outdoor and indoor fitness equipment and professional development for the implementation of the Project Fit America last year through a program sponsored by Danone and ShopRite.
