Administrative Positions 2025-2026 School Year

Principal High School

The Valley Central School District is seeking an innovative, visionary, and student-centered High School Principal to lead our diverse and dynamic high school community. The successful candidate will be an innovative, collaborative leader with a strong instructional background, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and academic excellence. This individual will be an expert of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, inclusive of technology integration, co- teaching strategies and differentiation to meet individual student needs. This individual will be an exceptional manager, motivating leader, and a strong relationship builder, who has demonstrated exceptional outcomes in a similarly mission-aligned school setting.  We are looking for a leader that believes in equity and has the capacity to lead students, adults, and teams to audacious outcomes that foster a love of learning in our students. The leader should have a keen instructional and school culture eye, and a toolbox to manage change, gain trust and work collaboratively with the district’s leadership team’s vision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Instructional Leadership

  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a rigorous and relevant curriculum aligned with New York State Learning Standards

  • Use data-driven decision making to improve teaching and learning outcomes

  • Promote effective instructional practices and provide meaningful feedback to teachers

  • Foster a culture of high expectations, student achievement, leadership, and continuous school improvement

School Operations

  • Oversee daily school operations, including master scheduling, staff supervision, safety procedures, and student discipline

  • Develop and manage school budgets in coordination with the district’s business office

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies

  • Coordinate building maintenance and capital improvement efforts as needed

Personnel and Staff Development

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate instructional and non-instructional staff

  • Support professional development aligned with school and district goals

  • Build a collaborative and respectful school culture among faculty, staff, students, and families

  • Implement teacher observation and evaluation systems consistent with APPR guidelines

Student Support and School Climate

  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

  • Collaborate with student support services (counselors, social workers, psychologists) to address academic and social-emotional needs

  • Lead initiatives around diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Enforce the student code of conduct fairly and consistently

Family and Community Engagement

  • Establish strong communication channels with families and the wider school community

  • Foster partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and higher education institutions

  • Represent the school at board meetings, community events, and public functions

  • Other duties as determined by the Superintendent 


Qualifications

  • Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field 

  • Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience, and 3 years of building administrative experience (high school level preferred)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, instructional leadership, and school operations

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Commitment to culturally-responsive sustaining education, excellence, and student-centered leadership

Assistant Principal

Assistant Principal – Elementary 

The Valley Central School District currently has two positions open for elementary assistant principal.  The assistant principal will help spearhead our efforts to ensure high academic standards with a focus on the social-emotional needs of all students. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

  • Works collaboratively with the building principal to assess current curriculum and instructional practices, identify resources to support academic, social-emotional and technology needs, and has a firm understanding of Google suite and its uses. 
  • Foster connections between academic learning, the community, and the natural world
  • Organizes the work of teacher teams and creates ongoing opportunities for shared leadership regarding protocols, team leader roles, and collaborative strategies. 
  • Develop and monitor schoolwide assessment systems for multiple academic areas that includes pre assessments, and interim assessments. Has the ability to analyze data and connect it to instructional next steps that move adult practice and student outcomes.

Staff Development

  • Assist in creating a professional community that focuses on instruction and assessment as the primary vehicles for improving student achievement and school culture.
  • Leads colleagues in their professional growth through modeling effective practices, articulating connections between instructional choices and student outcomes, coaching, observing instruction, and providing actionable feedback. 
  • Motivate teachers to continue to develop their content knowledge and instructional repertoire, and to provide the resources needed for them to do so.

School Culture

  • Assist in building a school culture that evidences high expectations for courtesy, respect, compassion and an intellectually engaged environment for both students and adults.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and productive environment for students, staff and families.
  • Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Model effective instructional practices in staff meetings, professional development sessions and team meetings.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with community organizations and regional/national partners.
  • Oversee extra-curricular activities and after school programs.
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with community organizations and regional/national partners.
  • Implement behavior/discipline modification plans for grade group cohorts in conjunction with the guidance counselor and other school personnel.
  • Other duties as determined by the principal.

**One of the assistant principal positions will include the following responsibilities with the District’s Pre-K program:

Pre-K

  • Manage all aspects of the Universal PreK Program and Grant with our Community Based Organizations.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of the program’s effectiveness, using data to inform program improvements.
  • Assist in building strong partnerships with parents, community members, and other stakeholders to support student learning and well-being including conducting parent information sessions.
  • Ensure the program complies with all relevant regulations, including local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Assist with budget, grant writing, reporting, and compliance for UPK funding sources.
  • Manage enrollment data, track student progress, and generate reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with our elementary schools to ensure a smooth transition for incoming kindergarten students.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  •  A Master’s Degree in Education, New York State Certification SAS or SBL, and a minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching and/or two years of previous experience in leadership 
  • Experience with restorative practices, culturally responsive, and sustaining pedagogy, trauma informed practices, and have strong beliefs in social-emotional learning values
