New Superintendent Selected

The Valley Central Board of Education is pleased to announce the anticipated appointment of Evette Avila as our new Superintendent of Schools on Monday, November 14th.  Ms. Avila’s extensive knowledge and professional background, along with her strong beliefs regarding communication, serving the community and unity made her the unanimous choice of the Board of Education.

The board’s decision to name Ms. Avila the superintendent comes after a thorough search conducted in partnership with Orange-Ulster BOCES.  The board used information collected from 329 survey responses as well as input from forums with faculty, staff, and the community to select the best candidate for our students and district.   

Ms. Avila is a strong leader who can move our district forward with respect and integrity, Ms. Avila is known for being a decision maker, building relationships and her passion for children.

I am deeply grateful to the Board of Education for entrusting me to serve such an incredible district.” said Ms. Avila. “I am excited to meet the talented and dedicated staff, students, families, and community members. I look forward to developing relationships and working collaboratively to continue serving our students in magnificent ways.”

Ms. Avila will be joining the district on January 1, 2023.  The board would like to thank our teachers, administrators, staff, students and parents for their critical feedback and support throughout this process.
