Valley Central School District has put out a message to share information related to students and the community reaching out about a dress code issue and also to update everyone on the changes to the dress code that have been made. Specifically, the message related to a shirt that was worn by a student that created a negative disruption to the social, mental and emotional well-being of other students. The comments presented on this shirt made students feel uncomfortable.
Please know that hate speech or speech that can be perceived as provocative or racist will not be tolerated and violations will be dealt with in accordance with the District’s Code of Conduct. There were several students and community members who reached out yesterday and we thank you for speaking up.
