5162- Student Dismissal Precautions

The student who finds it necessary to leave school at any time during the academic day may do so only with the permission of the school nurse, Building Principal or Assistant Principal. If a student leaves school without authorization, he/she is considered truant.

A student who becomes ill or is injured during the school day should report to the nurse. Except for emergencies, parental or guardian permission must be secured before a student may leave the school building.

If a student desires to leave school for a reason other than illness or a medical appointment, a written request from a parent or guardian must be presented to the attendance office before homeroom period on the day of the appointment. The note must provide a specific reason for the early dismissal and a telephone number by which to verify the written request.

If a student wishes to leave school and has not brought a note from home, a parent or guardian must come to the main office to excuse the student.
