The Board of Education recognizes the importance of cocurricular and extracurricular programs. These programs provide students with opportunities to follow special interests in hobbies, sports, arts and crafts and in academic areas. In order to be eligible for participation in
cocurricular and extracurricular programs, a student must meet the eligibility requirements set forth in the regulation. To remove barriers to participation in school activities by students in temporary housing, absences by such students for reasons related to a student’s being in temporary housing are exempted from this policy, and will not affect a student’s ability to participate in
activities.
Eligibility and continued participation in cocurricular and extracurricular activities are a privilege extended to students, as opposed to a right, and the behavioral standards set forth in the District Code of Conduct and its corresponding sections apply to all students participating in any cocurricular and/or extracurricular activity.
