8123.1- Bodily Fluids Policy Infection Control Guidelines

The Valley Central School District shall develop Public Employee Safety Health Act (PESH), Right-To-Know and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance programs that address the control of infectious bodily fluids. The Valley Central School District shall comply with the standards developed by OSHA to prevent the transfer of blood-borne pathogens. These standards are designed to protect employees from the hazards of the potential of infection by both the HIV and HBV viruses. The standards cover procedures for personal protective equipment, sanitation and waste disposal. The district shall assure that at a minimum, all nurses, healthcare professionals, athletic and physical education staff, and custodians shall be offered the opportunity to receive a Hepatitis B series vaccination.
