On Wednesday, February 8th, the VC Math Team competed in the final competition of the season. There was a three-way tie between the Beacon A team, the VC A team (Noah Hoffman, Femi Yusuff, Mary Barry, Kaitlyn Sepulveda, Adam Elkashef), and the VC B team (Tyshan Mitchell, Patricia Montero, Amelia Krause, Shaelin Brown, Arianna Flashman).
The VC A team, (Noah Hoffman, Femi Yusuff, Mary Barry, Kaitlyn Sepulveda, Adam Elkashef), qualified to compete in the DUSO Math League Sectional Championship on March 8th, 2023 at Vassar College. The alternates for the VC A team, Patricia Montero and Kori Geiselhart, had the highest scores outside of VC A team. The alternates will only participate if a regular member of the team cannot attend, for whatever reason. The VC A team and alternates received permission slips that need to be filled out by February 17th, 2023.
There were two students, Femi Yusuff and Noah Hoffman, that were ranked in the top 50 students out of around 350 in the league. While neither qualified for the NYSML State Competition in April, their accomplishment this season needs to be recognized.
