Our Hearts Are Saddened

A Letter from Superintendent John Xanthis to the Valley Central Community:

May 25, 2022
Dear Valley Central Community,
It is with deep sadness that I write to you today regarding the tragic incident that occurred yesterday in a Texas elementary school. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who have been irreparably harmed by the immense loss and injury from this violence.

We must acknowledge the anxiety and sadness that each and every one of us feels.

Please know that your school community is available to support students and
families during the days ahead. Our counseling staff is prepared to respond to
students who may need assistance in coping while at school. It is important that your children know that they are safe in our schools.

As always, we maintain an open line of communication with our local law
enforcement officials. While there are no known threats in our area, we have
requested an increased police presence in our schools.

Please know that the health and safety of our students is our utmost priority at Valley Central, and we remain committed to doing all that we can to ensure their safety. Thank you for trusting us to care for, keep safe and support your children as they grow.

Our hearts remain with the families of Texas.
