Valley Central Middle School offers students an array of extracurricular activities and clubs:
Art Club
Art Club is a place to practice art skills, develop art techniques, collaborate with other artists, and beautify the school and community through the arts. We offer a variety of art-related activities and projects to students through the after school club. Our goal is to continue to beautify our school district-wide with our murals. Offered to all grades.
Beautification & Development Team
The club encourages student collaboration and creativity in designing projects that will enhance the appearance of the school. Offered to all grades.
Chamber Music
Students will practice the skills necessary for quality performance, develop musicianship through the study of quality repertoire and player-directed rehearsals. Students will also demonstrate professional performance etiquette and participate in musical activities on campus and in the community. Students participate in the Winter and Spring Concerts, Night of Specials and spring NYSSMA Festival. Offered to all grades.
Chess Club
Valley Central Middle School’s Chess Club welcomes players of all skill levels. Students play informal games to improve their skills and expand their knowledge of chess. From novice to advanced, students have the opportunity to problem solve and build strong social connections while sharing their excitement for the game.
Culinary Club
This club provides hands-on cooking experience while learning about kitchen safety and sanitation, recipe preparation, food presentation, and nutrition/healthy eating. Our goal is to inspire students to pursue their culinary dreams through home cooking, culinary classes, trade school or post-secondary culinary programs. Offered to all grades.
Drama Club
The Drama Club is open to all students and will include performers, stage crew, and house crew. Students will learn all aspects of theater and will have the chance to bring their new skills to life on stage. Offered to all grades.
Eighth Grade Class
GLSEN
The Valley Central Middle School GLSEN Unity Club seeks to promote a welcoming space for all students including those in the LGBTQ+commuity and their allies. The purpose of this club is to foster a community in the school that is welcoming and open-minded through various school-based activities to promote tolerance and respect for others. Cultivating a safe and supportive environment where students can connect with others with shared interests and experiences will result in a more positive school environment.
Intramurals
Our goal is to get 6th graders involved in sports, fitness, team work, and social interaction. We play various sports offered in physical education and modified, JV and varsity. Offered to Grade 6.
Jazz Band
Audition based group open to all grades that performs during school concerts and in the community. We cover the jazz lexicon from the blues up to modern music. Students perform during the school year at concerts and special events.
Musical Production
Our goal is to develop student musicianship, ensemble and performance skills and prepare and perform a fall musical revue. Offered to Grade 7 and 8.
National Junior Honor Society
Students become eligible to become members of the National Junior Honor Society at the end of 7th grade. Students are invited based on the national eligibility criteria of academic achievement, leadership, service, and character. The National Junior Honor Society members serve the Middle School in their 8th grade year as student leaders performing school and community service projects.
Photo Club
Our goal is to participate in various activities; share and critique the photographs of peers; educated improve technical skills; and spread the love of photography. Offered to all grades.
SADD- Students Against Destructive Decisions
SADD empowers and mobilizes students and adults alike to engage in positive change through leadership and smart decision-making. Students participate in county-wide events such as Red Ribbon week and Rock The Belt.
Select Chorus
Select Chorus is an audition-based group open to 7th and 8th graders. They perform at several campus and community events. Select Chorus develops student musicianship and ensemble & performance skills, and to earn a Gold
Rating at NYSSMA Majors.
Sewing Club
The Valley Central Middle School Sewing Club’s mission is to provide the opportunity for students to learn how to sew or improve their sewing skills. We will be opening an alteration and repair shop for students and teachers, assisting with the middle school drama club productions costume and sewing needs, and making a handcrafted item to add to the families in need gift -giving.
Student Government Association
Student Government Association is designed to foster leadership skills, encourage school spirit, teach democratic principles among students, and allow students to express concerns and take a stand on important issues. Offered to all grades.
Tinker Thinkers
This club provides an opportunity for students to have hands-on experience while brainstorming new ideas using design skills, robotics, innovation, creativity and more. Offered to all grades.
V. C. Spirit
We organize events to show spirit of the building such as our school t-shirt design contest, door decorating contest, Red Ribbon/School Spirit week, Pasta for Pennies fundraiser and the spring Recognition dinner. Offered to all grades.
Viking Voices A Capella
Group members in 7th and 8th grade are selected through an audition process to promote music and music education through performances and competitions.
Yearbook Club
The group develops various yearbook pages, promotes the yearbook, and takes candid photos throughout the year. Offered to all grades
