Art Club

Art club is a place to practice art skills, develop art techniques, collaborate with other artists, and beautify the school and community through the arts. We offer a variety of art related activities and projects to students throughout the after-school art club. The club meets once a month for each grade level- 6th grade is the 1st Thursday, 7th grade is the 2nd Thursday and 8th grade is the 3rd Thursday (Meeting days may change due to holidays-always check the Google Classroom for updates!).
Beautification Development Team (BDT)
Advisor: Ms. McCarthy
Meeting Time: Post-Session, twice a month (Listen for announcements for upcoming meeting days)
Meeting Location: LG2
BDT encourages collaboration and creativity in designing projects that will enhance the appearance of the school environment. Some of the projects we will be working on will involve gardening, painting murals, stenciling, and making Holiday gifts for all the teachers and staff.
Chamber Music
Advisor: Mr. Cerullo
Meeting Time: Pre-Session, Mondays and Thursdays (dependent on assigned group and student’s participation in other AM ensembles). Meeting Location: Band Room
Audition based activity for woodwind and brass instrumentalists to rehearse and perform in small groups.
Chess Club
Advisor: Mrs. Kozlowski
Meeting Time: Post-Session, twice a month on Wednesdays (Check club’s Google Classroom and listen to announcements for dates)

Chess Club welcomes players of all skill levels. Students play informal games to improve their skills and expand their knowledge of chess. From novice to advanced, students have the opportunity to problem solve and build strong social connections while sharing their excitement for the game.
Culinary Club

Culinary club students/members will have the opportunity to make a variety of different foods over the course of the year. Students will fundraise to purchase the groceries/ products needed to run their club.
Cultural Diversity Club

The Cultural Diversity Club is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment and promoting the value of diversity within our school community. Through various activities and discussions, we aim to break down barriers and stereotypes while celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures represented among our students. Our goal is to create a safe and supportive space where students can openly share their experiences and learn from one another. Join us as we work towards embracing and understanding the beautiful diversity within our school.
Drama Club
Advisor: Mrs. Weiss, Mr. DeVoe

Rehearsals are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and some Fridays from 3:30 to 5:30pm.
Meeting Location: Cafeteria/Stage
Drama Club is designed for students interested in learning more about the aspects of theater. This includes learning stage terminology, working on acting skills, set building, and costume/makeup design. Drama Club is open to all students to promote communication skills, teamwork socialization, and self-confidence.
eSports

eSports brings the video games students like to play into a positive environment oriented around teamwork. Students can share their interest in video games by playing in a competitive, cooperative, and friendly outlet focused on good sportsmanship and skill building.
Everything Adventure Outdoor Club
Advisor: Ms. Circosta

Meeting Location: Café Recess Doors
The Everything Adventure Outdoor Club offers students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade the opportunity to unplug and get outside after school. Some of the activities include hiking the VC trails and the trails at Stewart State Forest, learning to snowshoe, riding a bike, geocaching, cross country skiing, etc. Bring a friend, UNPLUG and GET OUTSIDE.
Fishing Club

The Fishing Club invites all students, regardless of their experience, to learn how to spin fish and fly fish. Experience the excitement nature has to offer by immersing yourself in the tranquil, yet exhilarating art of fishing.
Intramurals (6th Grade only)

Intramurals provides fun, enjoyment, and recreation to the students. It helps to develop social values such as honesty, working together as a team, physical fitness, and a lifetime enjoyment of physical activity.
Jazz Band

Auditioned ensemble that covers the breadth of the jazz ensemble repertoire. This group performs multiple times a year including school concerts.
Math Team

Any students in grades 6-9 can join! Meet new friends that share a common interest in math! Have fun solving challenging math problems competing against other schools in the area!
Mindfulness & Yoga

To provide a safe space to help students learn how to release stress and anxiety, develop attention and focus, promote emotional and social well-being, improve fitness and physical health, link breath with movement, improve optimism and encourage creativity, and teach empathy and compassion for ourselves and others.
Musical Production

Meeting Location: MU1 /MU2/ Stage
Audition based and open to only 7th and 8th graders. Students have a hand in developing the script and staging of a short musical revue. Runs from September through November.
NJHS (National Junior Honor Society)
Advisor: Mrs. Weiss, Mr. Vallo
Meeting Time: Pre-Session or Post- Session once a month. Officer meetings are held twice a month. Meeting Location: Members notified
The National Junior Honor Society is a group of students who demonstrate the 5 pillars of NJHS: scholarship, citizenship, service, character, and leadership. Students with a cumulative average of at least 92.5% are invited to apply after the third quarter of 7th grade or after the second quarter of 8th. The NJHS strives to make the school and the community a better place through volunteering and with activities designed to foster positivity.
Photography Club

VCMS Photo club promotes creativity and a supportive environment for interested photography students of all grades. Our goals are to share and critique the photographs of peers; educate and improve technical skills; and spread the love of photography. This club meets the once a month with additional activities and meetings that are announced throughout the year.
SADD Club (Students Against Destructive Decisions)

To empower young people to successfully confront the risks and pressures that challenge them throughout their daily lives, our mission is accomplished by creating, equipping, and sustaining a network of student-run chapters in schools and communities focused on peer-to-peer education.

Audition based choral ensemble open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This ensemble performs more advanced repertoire and has an attendance requirement.
Sewing Club

Sewing Club is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who both have sewing experience as well as new sewers. The club meets 2-3 times per month pre-session, in room HS1. The club’s focus is learning the principals of operating a small business through management of sewing club offers, making & creating new items, mending & repairing items for students and staff, as well as completing special interest projects.
SGA (Student Government Association)

The Student Government Association (SGA) is designed to foster leadership skills, encourage school spirit, and teach democratic principles among students. As a student-run organization that represents the entire student body, SGA allows students to express concerns and take a stand on important issues. SGA strives to lead by example in the areas of academics, extra-curricular activities, community service, school spirit, student events, and student-teacher relations. SGA members should be role models for other students, both in and out of the classroom. The SGA at Valley Central Middle School strives to provide an effective, enjoyable environment to bring about positive change for students.

The Ski and Snowboard Club is ready to take you to the mountain! Whether you are a black diamond expert or a first-timer, there is a spot for you in our club. We are looking forward to getting outside together no matter the weather!
Unity Club (GLSEN)

GLSEN club will meet to discuss and celebrate similarities and differences among groups in the school and greater community. Discussion topics include, but are not limited to social and family diversities, racial, ethnic, and personal identities. Advocate for ending all forms of discrimination. Students who have a desire to advocate for others, as well as those who feel they are in need of having their voices heard in a safe, nonjudgmental environment are welcome.
