The Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) recognizes the top athletes in the county who also excel in scholastics. 

Class of 2021 Scholar-Athlete

Kelly Conan 

Kelly is a Varsity athlete on the Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track and Field teams.  Kelly set a new meet record for the Frosh 4×400 at the FDR invite two years in a row, and qualified for the 2020 Penn Relays in the 4×400. She also ran and jumped at State Qualifications all four years of high school.  She is also a junior Olympian in gymnastics.

Kelly is the salutatorian of her class.  She participated in the Science Olympiad,  Math Team and is the Vice President of the For the Animals Club. She is a member of the Environmental Club, National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Social Studies Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and English Honor Society.  

Kelly participated in the MedAchieve program at Touro College and was a first-place winner of the Albert M. Fulton essay contest. 

Kelly is a volunteer in the Physical Therapy Department at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.  During the COVID-19 lockdown, she began a Green Ribbon Movement in her community advocating for the hanging of green ribbons to represent all the growth of the community in coming together to battle the virus. 

Kelly will be attending Boston College, majoring in Biology.  

 

Sean Zupko

Sean has been a member of Varsity Boys’ Swimming. He served as the team’s captain.  He broke two school records (500 free, 100 back) and was a three-time Section IX champion in the 500 free, MVP, and a State Qualifier in the 500 free and 100 back,  He was also a Speedo Sectionals Qualifier.  Sean also swims with the NY Sharks Swim team. 

Sean is an Eagle Scout (Troop 31 BSA).  He is a Dean of the National Honor Society, President of the Science Honor Society, a member of the Music Honor Society, Science Olympiad, and plays saxophone in the Jazz Band. 

Sean served as Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 31 BSA, Venture Crew 43, prepared meals for Ronald McDonald house, distributed backpacks to students in need, renovated local garden and park clean-ups, and has volunteered at Town functions, athletic events, and elementary schools. 

Sean plans to attend SUNY Cortland, where he has committed to the Men’s Swim team and plans to major in Chemistry and Physics and plans to become a high school teacher.
