Graduation Information

Graduation 2024

Graduation Rehearsal will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Attendance at rehearsal is mandatory if you wish to participate in the Graduation ceremony.

Graduation will be Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

More detailed letters will be sent home in April and May regarding important graduation details.

 

Graduation Dress Code

We are extremely proud of our Valley Central Graduation Ceremony. It is a formal event steeped in tradition and is regarded as one of the most beautiful high school commencements in the state of New York. In an effort to keep you informed and give you enough notice to find the necessary components; we have listed below the dress code regulations that are required of each student. 

Proper dress for Graduates at commencement: 

Option #1

  • Choose to wear black or navy pants. No khakis or blue jeans.

  • Choose a solid light color (white, tan, pale yellow, pink, green, blue) collared button down shirt.

  • You must wear a long dark tie (no bow ties).

  • Black or navy shoes with dark socks (no boat shoes or sneakers).

  • Hair must be neat and ready to easily accommodate the cap. 

  • No corsages…pin-on or on the wrist..

Option #2

  • Choose to wear a dress, skirt or romper. No jeans, no shorts, or cut-offs.

  • No color is specified but the hemline must not exceed the length of the gown.

  • Solid black or navy closed-toed shoes (No sandals). Beware: Narrow heels will sink in the grass. Flats are highly recommended.

  • Hair must be neat and ready to easily accommodate the cap.

  • The neckline of the dress should not show above the collar of the gown.

  • No corsages…pin-on or on the wrist.

*If these rules are not followed you may be sent home to change or may not be allowed to walk.*


Formal Photographs

Formal photographs of each graduate will be taken and available for purchase through a local photographer.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from Valley Central High School students must successfully complete specific requirements.  These requirements are outlined in the student programming booklet “Course Description Booklet” available to all students. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Selection of Valedictorian and Salutatorian

The Valedictorian/Salutatorian of the graduating class will be selected by tabulating the WEIGHTED grades of all prospective graduates up to and including the second quarter of the 12th grade.  Eleventh-grade students who receive permission to accelerate to graduate a year early will be considered eligible for all senior awards, accolades, and consideration as Valedictorian/Salutatorian.  The Valedictorian and Salutatorian are expected to actively participate in the commencement ceremony.
